Quick answer

How does this calculator work?

Annual pay = hourly rate × hours/week × weeks/year. For a 40-hour, 52-week year, multiply hourly by 2080. Monthly = annual ÷ 12; biweekly = weekly × 2; daily = weekly ÷ days/week. All figures are gross — actual take-home is lower after tax and deductions.

Formula
Annual = hourly × hours/week × weeks/year • Monthly = annual ÷ 12 • Daily = weekly ÷ days/week
How this is calculated

Converting between pay periods is straightforward arithmetic once you know your base hourly rate and working schedule. Weekly pay is hourly rate times hours worked per week. Annual pay is weekly pay times the number of weeks worked — typically 52 for a full year, but you may want to reduce this if you take unpaid leave. Monthly pay is annual divided by 12 (not 4.33 times weekly, which would give a slightly different result). Biweekly (fortnightly) pay is two weeks of pay at once, which is how many employers pay. Daily pay is weekly divided by working days per week.

All figures are gross (before income tax, National Insurance, superannuation, or other deductions). Your take-home pay will be lower depending on your tax bracket and benefit deductions. The calculator does not model overtime, bonuses, commissions, or shift differentials — it assumes a flat rate for all hours entered.

If you are comparing job offers quoted in different pay-period formats, use this calculator to convert them all to the same period (annual is the most comparable) before making a decision.

Frequently asked questions

Multiply your hourly rate by hours worked per week, then multiply by weeks worked per year. For a standard 40-hour week over 52 weeks: annual = hourly × 40 × 52. At $25/hr that is $52,000/year.

Monthly pay = (hourly × hours/week × weeks/year) ÷ 12. Dividing the annual figure by 12 is the most consistent method; multiplying by 4.33 (average weeks per month) gives a slightly different result.

Biweekly (or fortnightly) pay means you are paid every two weeks — 26 pay periods per year. Biweekly pay = weekly × 2, or annual ÷ 26. Many employers use this schedule, resulting in two months per year with three pay days.
