How does this calculator work?
Each US quarter = $0.25, so total value = quarters × $0.25. Divide by 4 for whole dollars; the remainder × 25 gives leftover cents. 4 quarters = $1, 40 quarters = $10 (one bank roll). Quick mental check: if quarters is divisible by 4, the result is a whole dollar amount.

A US quarter is worth 25 cents — exactly one-quarter of a dollar — hence the name. Multiplying the number of quarters by 25 gives the total value in cents; dividing by 100 converts to dollars. Because 4 quarters make exactly $1, dividing the quarter count by 4 gives the number of whole dollar bills, with any remainder representing leftover quarters (1 leftover = 25¢, 2 leftover = 50¢, 3 leftover = 75¢).
The calculator also converts the total cent value into equivalent coin denominations for reference: dimes (10¢ each), nickels (5¢ each) and pennies (1¢ each).
