Pie Chart Percentage Calculator — Angle to Percent
Convert a pie chart sector angle to a percentage: enter the central angle of a slice in degrees (0° to 360°) and get its percentage share of the full chart, plus the equivalent in radians.
°
Fraction of the full circle (360°) this sector represents
- 1
Proportion of full circle
90 ÷ 360 = 0.25 - 2
Percentage = proportion × 100
0.25 × 100 = 25A full circle represents 100%.
How does this calculator work?
Pie chart percentage = sector angle ÷ 360 × 100. Each degree equals ≈ 0.278% of the total. Convert to radians by multiplying degrees by π/180. Optional: enter the total to find the slice's raw value. Reverse: angle = percentage × 3.6.
Formula
How this is calculated
A full pie chart circle equals 360°, representing 100% of the data. Any sector angle is therefore a fraction of 360°, and that fraction times 100 gives the percentage share: percentage = angle ÷ 360 × 100. Equivalently, each degree of arc equals 100/360 ≈ 0.2778% of the total.
If you also know the total quantity that the pie chart represents (for example, a budget of 1200 units), you can find the slice's raw value: value = (percentage / 100) × total. Enter that total in the optional field to see the result.
The calculator also converts degrees to radians (multiply by π/180), which is the unit used by most programming drawing APIs when specifying arc angles for SVG, Canvas or chart libraries. The remainder shows what fraction of the chart (and how many degrees) belongs to all other slices combined.
Frequently asked questions
Percentage = angle ÷ 360 × 100. For example, a 72° sector is 72 ÷ 360 × 100 = 20%. Shortcut: divide the angle by 3.6 to get the percentage directly (72 ÷ 3.6 = 20).
Half of 360° = 180°. A quarter is 90°, one-third is 120°, one-fifth is 72°, and one-tenth is 36°. In general, angle = percentage × 3.6.
Angle = percentage × 3.6. So 25% → 25 × 3.6 = 90°. Use the Pie Chart Angle Calculator if you are starting from a value and a total rather than a percentage.
