Formula
How this is calculated
Pakistan levies personal income tax on a progressive slab basis. For salaried individuals in Tax Year 2025 (July 2024 – June 2025) the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) published six slabs under the Finance Act 2024: 0% on income up to Rs. 600,000; 5% on the next Rs. 600,000 (up to Rs. 1,200,000); 15% on Rs. 1,200,001–2,200,000; 25% on Rs. 2,200,001–3,200,000; 30% on Rs. 3,200,001–4,100,000; and 35% on income above Rs. 4,100,000. Each slab taxes only the slice of income within that band — not the full amount.
Employers deduct income tax monthly from salary (WHT — withholding tax on salary) at the applicable annual rate divided by 12. No separate payroll tax exists for employees, though they must also consider Zakat (2.5% deducted on savings/investment where applicable by banks) and EOBI/SESSI contributions for pensions if their employer participates.
This calculator covers the income-tax liability only and does not include provincial taxes, Zakat, social-security contributions, or any additional surcharge that Parliament may introduce during the year. The bracket figures are editable estimates; consult the FBR website (fbr.gov.pk) or a qualified tax adviser for the official position.
