Quick answer

How does this calculator work?

Multiply your pay rate by the number of pay periods per year: hourly × hours/week × weeks/year; daily × working days/year; monthly × 12; etc. This calculator does the conversion in both directions — enter any pay period and get the equivalent annual salary plus all other per-period equivalents.

Formula
Annual = Amount × multiplier (e.g. hourly × hours/week × weeks/year)
How this is calculated

The calculator multiplies your pay rate by the number of occurrences in a year for the period you selected. Hourly pay is scaled by hours per week and weeks worked per year; daily pay by working days per year; weekly by weeks per year; bi-weekly by 26; semi-monthly by 24; monthly by 12; quarterly by 4. All figures are gross (before tax and deductions).

From the annual total the calculator derives equivalent rates for every other period using the same factors in reverse, so you can compare job offers quoted in different pay cadences on an apples-to-apples basis. The default assumptions (40 hrs/week, 52 weeks, 260 working days) match a standard full-time schedule — adjust them if your situation differs, for example if you take unpaid leave or work part-time.

Note that this calculator does not account for income tax, superannuation, social insurance or any other deduction. Use a tax-specific tool for after-tax ("take-home") salary estimates.

Frequently asked questions

Multiply your hourly rate by the number of hours you work per week, then multiply by the number of weeks you work per year. For a standard 40 h/week, 52-week year: Annual = Hourly × 40 × 52. A $25/hr rate gives $52,000/year.

Bi-weekly means you are paid every two weeks — 26 pay cheques per year. Semi-monthly means twice a month (e.g. the 1st and 15th) — 24 pay cheques per year. The annual total is the same, but each bi-weekly cheque is slightly larger than each semi-monthly one.

No — all figures are gross (pre-tax). Income tax, social insurance and other deductions vary by country, filing status and income level. Use a dedicated tax or take-home pay calculator for net salary estimates.
